Even though much is being speculated about the commercial potential of the surroundings of the Lavradio Street in Rio de Janeiro, not enough is being said about the possibilities of housing units in this part of the city.

Aiming at bringing the highest amount possible of housing units without compromising features such as ventilation and natural light, the project coordinate six habitational units around a generous common porch, which makes it possible to have a minimal and modular unit plan, which could be expanded towards the adjacent modules.

On the perimeter of the lot is built an independent light and thin skin made of tubular steel frames and expanded steel sheets that, together with the porch of the northeast facade, work as a mechanism of solar protection and noise filtering from the busy street below. On the northwest facade, the porch becomes a courtyard, however still protected by the metallic skin.
